The aim of this tourism research association,<br />

known as AIEST, is to foster friendly relations<br />

among its members, to promote scientific activity<br />

on the part of its members, to provide documentation<br />

services, to facilitate exchange of views and<br />

experience, to support the activity of tourism<br />

centres of research and education, and to develop<br />

relations among its members and institutions. Its<br />

main activities include organising an annual<br />

conference and publishing The Tourist Review,<br />

its official organ, as well as conference proceedings.<br />

The Association was founded in 1951, and had 380<br />

members from some fifty countries in 1998. Its<br />

headquarters is in St. Gallen, Switzerland.<br />

benefits, members receive subscriptions to Travel<br />

Marketing Decisions Magazine �quarterly) which publishes<br />
