Resümee: Das Werk der Käthe Kollwitz hat weit über den deutschsprachigen
Raum hinaus gewirkt. In Brasilien fand schon
1933 die erste Begegnung damit statt, anlässlich einer Ausstellung
in dem Clube dos Artistas Modernos in São Paulo.
Im selbem Jahr verfasste der Kunstkritiker Mário Pedrosa
den Essay As tendências sociais da arte e Käthe Kollwitz. Beides
zusammen, Ausstellung und Essay, entfalteten eine
beachtliche Wirkung auf die brasilianische Kunstszene
wegen eines zunehmenden Interesses am sozialen Charakter
der Kunst und einer Aufwertung der Graphik. Es
war zu dieser Zeit, dass die erste Generation moderner
graphischer Künstler begann, sich in Brasilien zu entwikkeln.
Diese Tendenzen und Einflüsse sind im Werk von
Künstlern wie Lívio Abramo (1903-1992), Carlos Scliar
(1920-2001) und Mário Gruber (*1927) zu erkennen sowie
bei Renina Katz (*1926), deren Arbeit thematisch und
ästhetisch vielleicht am auffälligsten durch Käthe Kollwitz
geprägt worden ist.
Abstract: The repercussion of Käthe Kollwitz’ oeuvre has far overreached
the German-speaking world. In Brazil, the first
contact with it occurred yet in 1933, on the occasion of
an exhibition in the Clube dos Artistas Modernos in São
Paulo. In the same year the art critic Mário Pedrosa wrote
the essay As tendências sociais da arte e Käthe Kollwitz.
Both, the exhibition and the essay, displayed a considerable
effect on the Brazilian art scene due to an increasing
interest in the social character of art and a valorization of
graphic arts. It was during this time that the first generation
of modern graphic artists began to evolve in Brazil.
These tendencies and influences can be recognized in
the oeuvre of artists like Lívio Abramo (1903-1992), Carlos
Scliar (1920-2001) and Mário Gruber (*1927) as well as in
Renina Katz (*1926), whose work has possibly been influenced
most noticeably by Käthe Kollwitz in terms of thematic
and aesthetic figuration.
