First Time Installation and Configuration<br />

First Time Installation and Configuration of the <strong>RMX</strong> 1500/<strong>2000</strong>/4000 consists of the following<br />

procedures:<br />

1 Preparations:<br />

— Gather Network Equipment and Address Information - get the information needed<br />

for integrating the <strong>RMX</strong> into the local network for each of the networks that will be<br />

connected to the <strong>RMX</strong> unit. For a list of required address, see the <strong>RMX</strong> 1500/<strong>2000</strong>/<br />

4000 Getting Started <strong>Guide</strong>, "Gather Network Equipment and Address Information” on<br />

page 2-2.<br />

2 Hardware Installation and Setup<br />

— Mount the <strong>RMX</strong> in a rack. For more details see the <strong>RMX</strong> 1500/<strong>2000</strong>/4000 Getting<br />

Started <strong>Guide</strong>, "Hardware Installation and Setup” on page 2-9.<br />

— Connect the necessary cables. For details, see <strong>RMX</strong> 1500/<strong>2000</strong>/4000 Getting Started<br />

<strong>Guide</strong>, "Hardware Installation and Setup” on page 2-9.<br />

3 First Entry Power-up and Configuration<br />

— Power up the <strong>RMX</strong>. For more details see the <strong>RMX</strong> 1500/<strong>2000</strong>/4000 Getting Started<br />

<strong>Guide</strong>, "Procedure 1: First-time Power-up” on page 2-24.<br />

— Register the <strong>RMX</strong>. For more details see the <strong>RMX</strong> 1500/<strong>2000</strong>/4000 Getting Started<br />

<strong>Guide</strong>, "Procedure 2: Product Registration” on page 2-25.<br />

— Connect to the <strong>RMX</strong>. For more details see the <strong>RMX</strong> 1500/<strong>2000</strong>/4000 Getting Started<br />

<strong>Guide</strong>, "Procedure 3: Connection to MCU” on page 2-25.<br />

— Configure the Default IP Network Service using the information for one of the<br />

networks connected a media card installed in the system. For more details see the<br />

<strong>RMX</strong> 1500/<strong>2000</strong>/4000 Getting Started <strong>Guide</strong>, "Procedure 4: Modifying the Default IP<br />

Service and ISDN/PSTN Network Service Settings” on page 2-27.<br />

— Optional. Configure the ISDN/PSTN Network Service. For more details see the <strong>RMX</strong><br />

1500/<strong>2000</strong>/4000 Getting Started <strong>Guide</strong>, "ISDN/PSTN Services” on page 2-4.<br />

4 Modify the required System Flag to enable Multiple Services and reset the MCU.<br />

5 Add the required IP Network Services to accommodate the networks connected to the<br />

<strong>RMX</strong> unit.<br />

6 Select a Network Service to act as default for dial out and gateway calls for which the<br />

Network Service was not selected.<br />

7 Place several calls and run conferences to ensure that the system is configured<br />

Upgrading to Multiple Services<br />

1 Gather Network Equipment and Address Information for each of the networks that will<br />

be connected to the <strong>RMX</strong> unit. For a list of required address, see <strong>RMX</strong> 1500/<strong>2000</strong>/4000<br />

Getting Started <strong>Guide</strong>, "Gather Network Equipment and Address Information” on page 2-2.<br />

2 Upgrade to the new version and install the activation key that contains the Multiple<br />

Services license as described in <strong>RMX</strong> 1500/<strong>2000</strong>/4000 Release Notes.<br />

3 Place several calls and run conferences to ensure that the system upgrade was<br />

completed successfully.<br />
