• <strong>RMX</strong>’s with 500MB of memory can support a maximum of 400 simultaneous participant calls,<br />

regardless of how system resources are allocated.<br />

<strong>RMX</strong>’s with 1000MB of memory are not subject to this limitation.<br />

• <strong>RMX</strong> memory size is listed in the Administration > System Information properties box. For more<br />

information see "System Information” on page 20-23.<br />

The installed media card type (MPM, MPM+ or MPMx) determines the Card Configuration<br />

Mode, which in turn determines the resource allocation method that can be selected for the<br />

<strong>RMX</strong>. The resource allocation method determines how the system resources are allocated to<br />

the connecting endpoints and it is defined in the Video/Voice Port Configuration. Two<br />

allocation methods are available:<br />

• Flexible Resource Capacity – This is the default allocation mode that is used in all<br />

versions and can be used in all Card Configuration Modes. The resources are only set to<br />

audio and video as a pool and the system allocates the resources according to the<br />

connecting endpoints. This mode offers flexibility in resource allocation and is available<br />

in MPM, MPM+ and MPMx Card Configuration Modes.<br />

In Flexible Resource Capacity mode, in MPM, MPM+ and MPMx Card Configuration<br />

Modes, the maximum number of resources is based on the system license, regardless of<br />

the hardware configuration of the <strong>RMX</strong>. These resources are allocated as CIF resources<br />

by default.<br />

Example: If the <strong>RMX</strong> is licensed for 80 video resources, but only one MPM card is<br />

currently installed in the <strong>RMX</strong>, the system lets you allocate 80 ports although only 40<br />

video resources are available for participant connection. (However, an active alarm will<br />

be added to the Active Alarms list indicating a resource deficiency).<br />

• Fixed Resource Capacity – This mode offers precise usage of resources, allowing the<br />

administrator to set the number of resources guaranteed to each Audio Only and video<br />

connection type in advance. This mode is available only in MPM+ and MPMx Card<br />

Configuration Modes.<br />
