ENHANCEMENT
E226 EFFICIENT AND RESPONSIVE STATE GOVERNMENT
This request restores revenue anticipated for the Insurance Fraud Assessments. There was a lawsuit decision in the Nevada 1st District Court, based on NRS 679B, that was determined
Insurance Companies who have a license to issue insurance policies in Nevada, but write no premiums during the calendar year, are not required to pay the $500 Insurance Fraud assessment
as they had been paying each year. The division is projecting there will be a decrease of 369 companies required to pay the Insurance Fraud assessment due to this decision. A Bill Draft
Request has been submitted to support this request, it revises the language to clarify that even those companies that do not write premiums in Nevada throughout the year are required to pay
the Insurance Fraud Assessment . BDR 57-350 (DOA# 13A7411069). Eighty-five percent of the assessments collected is transferred to the Attorney Generals Office.
