DTCA - COMMISSION ON TOURISM - The mission of the Nevada Commission on Tourism (NCOT) is to enhance the economic vitality of the State of Nevada and
its statewide tourism industry entities.
Division Budget Highlights:
1. Enhance Marketing & Public Relations - The Commission on Tourism (NCOT) has a
performance-driven budget funded through lodging taxes. Its marketing programs deliver a
20:1 return on investment (ROI). This biennium, NCOT will launch a new brand and boost its
social media and international sales and marketing.
2. Increase Marketing & Public Relations Funding - NCOT is increasing its marketing
funds to ensure dollars provided to the agency are used in maximum ROI-generating
activities. Several new marketing programs, including the launch of a statewide brand, will
require all available funding to optimize ROI.
3. Increase Rural Marketing Grants - NCOT provides marketing grants to entities in rural
communities. Many rural partners rely on these matching funds to execute marketing
campaigns and drive essential revenue. These are competitive grants and this increase will
help ensure funding to more valuable projects.
4. Add New Management Analyst - This new position will serve all DTCA agencies to
ensure adequate resources are available to maintain segregation of duties and meet the
demands of workload increases realized with the formation of the DTCA.
5. Transfer Personnel Analyst to DHRM - DTCA will transfer a Personnel Analyst
position to the Division of Human Resources Management (DHRM) to streamline its
operation through utilizing DHRM's centralized services. DTCA believes this transition will
provide staff with more efficient and cost-effective human resource services.
6. Nevada Magazine - A self-funded enterprise fund with subscription sales, advertising
sales, and editorial/print functions for DTCA. Our budget's expenses are flat, with some
slight revenue increases due to increasing advertising sales into our Las Vegas Events &
Shows magazine.
7. Publish Nevada Magazine - Nevada Magazine, the Publishing Division of DCTA,
produces Nevada Magazine, to educate the general public about Nevada and foster an
awareness and appreciation of the state's recreational activities, history, heritage, special
events, culture, natural resources, and natural wonders.
