This request is associated with the new Wild-Land Fire Program being proposed in budget account 4194. While the main program costs are created and contained in the new budget account
4194, a small component of possible funding resources for the new Wild-Land Fire Program could be provided from the budget account 4196 Fire Suppression account should unexpended
funds remain in that account. While it is a rare occurrence to have unexpended funds in the Fire Suppression account, should that occur, this request would provide the authority to not revert
to the General Fund, as they currently do, but would instead balance forward from the Fire Suppression account to the newly created Wild-Land Fire Program via the fiscal year-end account
closing process. These funds would be used to support the program by providing resources to fund unanticipated equipment repairs that result from strenuous, remote use of emergency
response equipment. Since the Fire Suppression account does not currently have authorizing statutory language in place controlling the balances in the account, authority for the balance
forward from the Fire Suppression account to the Wild-Land Fire Program would require special language be placed in the 2013-15 Appropriations Bill to allow the transfer to be made.
