PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Research and Development Fund funds engineering studies, analyses, negotiations, and other efforts in protecting the interests of the state in the development of any of the resources
under the control of the Colorado River Commission (Commission). This fund is now used primarily for specific resource programs of the Commission. Expenditures are approved and
funded on an individual basis through contractual agreements with Commission customers. In addition, some small projects may be funded from this account as approved by the director.
Currently, the funds is only used as a pass-through account for the costs related to the Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program (LCRMSCP). Funding is provided to the
Commission by its water and power contractors in accordance with the Multi-Species funding contracts.
The Commission has been involved with the LCRMSP since its inception and is now providing Nevada's share of the program funding and continues to monitor and provide input in the
process. The implementation of the program is at the federal level with oversight from the non-federal funding entities. Statutory authority: NRS 538.
BASE
This request continues funding for the Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program, which is now in the implementation phase after many years of development.
