GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - The mission of the Governor's Office of Economic Development is to foster the creation of highquality
jobs in private industry for Nevadans.
Department Budget Highlights:
1. Encourage Intellectual Property Licensing - The Knowledge Fund, established by AB
449 of the 2011 Session, receives $10M over the biennium to encourage intellectual property
licensing and increase the number of start-up companies in Nevada by funding research in
areas targeted for economic growth.
2. Recruit Companies to Nevada - The Catalyst Fund created by AB 449 of the 2011
Session receives an additional $3.5 million to spur the recruitment of companies to Nevada
from outside the state and expansion of companies in the state. The goal is 2500 new jobs
associated with grants of funding from the Fund.
3. Increase Marketing Activities - Funding is added to increase marketing activities that
will expand Nevada's presence at key high-traffic venues, promote foreign direct investment
and export growth, direct marketing, and collateral public relations campaigns.
