DEPARTMENT OF TAXATION - Taxation fairly, efficiently and effectively administers tax programs for the State of Nevada in accordance with applicable statues,
regulations and policies. The department serves the taxpayers, state and local government entities.
Department Budget Highlights:
1. New Chief Deputy - A new Chief Deputy will communicate regulations to ensure
awareness by taxpayers, serve as the Public Information Officer and assist with department
oversight.
2. Increase the Number of Audits - The Auditors will increase the volume of audits
completed to assure that tax payments and reports are reliable, accurate and comply with the
law.
3. Pursue Collections with New Revenue Officers - Revenue Officers will pursue
collections on past due accounts and manage payment errors.
4. Revise Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement Funding - This request modifies the
funding source for Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement staff from general fund
appropriations to settlement payments received by the state.
5. Reclassify the Chief, Local Government Service - This request reclassifies the Local
Government Services Chief to a Deputy Executive Director based on the duties and expanded
job functions.
