E350 SAFE AND LIVABLE COMMUNITIES
This decision unit will fund a permanent security detail to provide security for the Judicial Branch including the Supreme Court justices, routine judicial hearings and arguments, the Supreme
Court building, outlying offices, staff, and judicial meetings and events as authorized in NRS 2.295. The security detail will replace Capitol Police coverage of the Supreme Court building
currently supervised by the Buildings and Grounds Division under the Executive Branch and paid indirectly by all state agencies that are housed in state owned facilities. State agencies
housed in state owned facilities will benefit from reduced building rent since costs of Capitol Police coverage of the Supreme Court building, estimated at $167,000 per year, will no longer
be required. This decision is cost neutral to the state with the exception of the necessary startup and the need for a part-time position to cover when other security personnel will be
unavailable.
