SILVER STATE HEALTH INSURANCE EXCHANGE - Increase the number of insured Nevadans by facilitating the purchase and sale of health insurance that
provides quality health care through the creation of a transparent, simplified marketplace of qualified health plans.
Department Budget Highlights:
1. Establish and Facilitate Health Insurance Exchange - The Exchange was established
pursuant to SB440 (2011) and the Affordable Care Act. Nevada must establish a Health
Insurance Exchange or cede that authority to the U.S. DHHS. The exchange must be
operational by October 1, 2013 to facilitate open enrollment for coverage effective on January
1, 2014.
