JUDICIAL BRANCH - The Judicial Branch of <strong>Nevada</strong> State Government is the third branch of the government, co-equal with the <strong>Executive</strong> and Legislative Branches.<br />

Article 6 of the <strong>Nevada</strong> Constitution provides that the <strong>Nevada</strong> Supreme Court shall administer the <strong>Nevada</strong> Judicial System; has exclusive jurisdiction to hear appeals for all<br />

civil and criminal cases from District Courts; has the power to issue Writs of Mandamus, Certiorari, Prohibition, Quo Warranto and Habeas Corpus; shall proscribe the rules<br />

and requirements for the licensure of lawyers and impose discipline as appropriate; and shall hear all appeals from the Judicial Discipline Commission for the discipline of<br />

judges. Core functions of the Judicial Branch are provided in the constitution and are augmented by statutorily imposed duties. The Judicial Branch activity budget at the<br />

department level includes funding for the state judiciary and the Foreclosure Mediation Program statutorially created by the 2009 <strong>Nevada</strong> Legislature.<br />
