In addition to all of these demands, the Governor focuses increased
resources on education initiatives to improve reading skills in our
elementary schools, expand all-day kindergarten, fund additional
English language instruction, and help our high school youth
recognize their potential. The budget addresses several health and
human services needs, including early intervention, autism, mental
health, and reducing hunger. The Governor also continues his
commitment to economic development by investing in the Knowledge
Fund to encourage start-up enterprises in Nevada and the Catalyst
Fund to recruit existing businesses to Nevada.
Recognizing we rely on technology more and more, the Governor
also sets aside substantial resources to replace aging and failing
information technology systems and equipment that have received
very few resources for years.

included in both the Priorities and Performance Based Budget sections
and the line-item detail section of this document. The Priorities and
Performance Based Budget includes budget highlights and describes
the activities each agency pursues to achieve the Governor’s priorities
and the resources and performance measures for each activity. The
line-item detail provides detailed budgetary information for each
agency.
