DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION - The Department of Administration oversees the financial management and operations of Nevada state government
including human resources, information technology, building construction and maintenance, purchasing and contracting, state vehicle management and the protection of
state property. Additionally, it oversees the Nevada State Library and Archives, administrative hearings and appeals, and Victims of Crime. The department primarily
provides internal support to state agencies to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities to citizens.
Department Budget Highlights:
1. Purchase Leased Motor Pool Facility - The Motor Pool Division purchases the built-tosuit
facility in Las Vegas for $2.5 million using General Fund financing. After adjusting for
the debt service to repay the General Fund using vehicle rental revenue, the agency saves
over $150,000 in SFY14 and over $200,000 in SFY15.
2. Centralize Public Works Administrative Services - The State Public Works Division
(SPWD) proposes to establish an administrative services account and consolidate its
administrative and management services for the division. Costs for the administrative
services unit will be cost allocated to the other SPWD units.
3. Transfer Commodity Food Program - This program is being transferred from the
Purchasing Division to the Department of Agriculture as part of a statewide centralization of
food and nutrition programs intended to improve services, increase efficiency, and provide
economic development opportunities.
4. Migrate to Outsourced Email Provider - The Computer Facility receives funding for
deployment costs and training to migrate email services to an outsourced email provider. The
email provider may use a cloud-based solution, which is more economical and has increased
functionality as compared to the state's current email system.
5. Replace Core Phone System - Telecommunications receives funding to replace the
state's core telephone and voice mail switches that are at capacity and two generations behind
current technology. State agencies that currently operate their own systems will be able to
use phone services provided by Enterprise IT Services.
6. Centralize Information Technology - The Department of Public Safety transfers
funding for information technology services to Enterprise IT Services (EITS). This continues
