Peking University, Beijing, May 18th, 2005: Jim Clancy, renown TV news producer
and news anchor from CNN Atlantic regional head quarter, brought his producing
team to a face-to-face interaction to PKU students this afternoon.
Members of his producing team included Rena Golden, vice president of CNN
International, Kristin Lu Stout, CNN anchor for its new technology show Spark and
also Hugh Riminton, CNN anchor and correspondent based at the news network's
Asian regional headquarters in Hong Kong.
The prelude of the interaction was a flash done by students from School of
Journalism and Communication (SJC) of Peking University. Fascinated by the
creative work done by young students, the producing team also shared with its
audience their own edition of CNN show for cooperate communication. After this
short show, four key members from this team, including Mr. Clancy himself, gave a
short speech concerning their understanding about news making according to their
unique experience in CNN.
Another thing special about today's interaction was that the Q&A part was 45
minutes long and was extended again for another 20 minutes when the session
approaching to previously scheduled end. Since the audience was mainly composed
with students from School of Journalism and Communication, the interaction was
naturally led to discussion of news making, including issues like moral principles,
sensationalism and news credibility. Since China is attracting international attention,
focus on China in term of content composition also contributed to a major part of
today's interaction.
Mr. Jim Clancy's team went to Beijing for the special edition of "China Week"
regarding this round of international Fortune Forum. Dedicated to Beijing, and the
entire China's fascinating changes, the team also expressed their future focus on the
most fast growing country in global community.
