Peking University, Apr. 2, 2008: On the afternoon of 31st March, Professor Swanee
Hunt from John F. Kennedy School of Government gave a lecture on the topic of
―women‘s development‖ in the conference room of the faculty and staff union, PKU.
In her speech, Professor Hunt introduced some of the outstanding female figures in
the world and their achievements, stated her view on female leaders, and provided
the exact number of the portion of female leaders in the world. The role of
non-government organization was also introduced.
The report was co-organized by the women staff and faculty committee of the faculty
and staff union, PKU and Women‘s Studies Center of PKU. Wei Guoying, Vice
Director of the Women‘s Studies Center of PKU presented a souvenir of PKU to
Professor Hunt on behalf of the organizer.
Professor Hunt is the program director of women and public policy in the Kennedy
School of Government, Harvard, chair of the Hunt Alternatives Foundation, member
of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and a regular writer for the newspapers and
journals in the United States and other countries. During the period of 1993 to 1997,
she served as the American ambassador in Italy, making remarkable contribution to
the world peace.
