According to Zhang Yi, ―Green Process‖ is the process where high efficiency and low
environmental harm is promoted for new businesses and projects.
―Now there are businesses with enough economic support, foresight, strategic
hindsight and have consideration of long-term benefits that have accepted clean
production technologies.‖
Develop Recycling Economy, Promote Continuous Growth
Zhang Yi stated that on average, China is lacking in high quality resources. By 2010,
within China‘s petroleum, natural gas, iron ore and 45 other types of mining
resources, there will be at least 10 types that cannot keep up with the need of the
industry, and 5 others will be in severe shortage. On the other hand, the consumption
rate of China‘s primary industrial products is 20%-40% higher than the international
standards, the recycling of China‘s mining resources rate is 20% lower than other
countries. Under the background of the wasting of resources and the increasing
harm done to the environment, promoting a Recycling Economy is a must for the
future of socio-economic development.
According to Zhang Yi, when the usefulness of a product is over, it gets discarded
and becomes of no value. But in Recycling Economy this discarded item can be used
to make new products, therefore reusing and saving valuable resources that
otherwise would be wasted. The most important concept of Recycling Economy is
that it minimizes the effect that production has on the environment, while at the same
time maximizes the efficiency of said resource.
Perfect Environmental Laws and Regulations, Strengthen Surveillance is the Key
―The biggest problems we face in actualizing clean production are the lack of laws
and regulations and also people present needed for enforcement. Due to the fact
that there are no consequences of pollution, these businesses do not find the reason
to change their current manufacturing ways.‖ When asked again why practicing
clean production is necessary, Zhang Yi replied: ―clean production technology is not
only important for the protection of the environment, but also great for the ongoing
development of the business itself. However, at the moment, forcing all the
businesses to practice said technology is very hard to achieve due to the high risks
involved and the necessity of the installation of new machinery and technology,
which will cost a lot of money.‖
