conditions. In a word, the purification process <strong>of</strong> surface water and ground water<br />

necessitates enhancing pre-disposal technology and developing effective materials<br />

and technique, and safe and reliable supervision and disinfection technology. Hence<br />

the water supply systems in China‘s urban areas could be well-developed and<br />

fully-fledged.<br />

Environmental molecular sciences, environmental nanometer technology and<br />

environmental nanometer materials such as catalyzer, sorbent, flocculator, filtration<br />

membrane, sense organ, repair agent, etc., have been undergoing rapid<br />

development. We should develop these higher effective materials and explore their<br />

ecological effects when we try to improve the water disposal system.<br />

Central Water Supply: the rational trend <strong>of</strong> urban water supply system<br />

Water quality in metropolitans can generally match the safety standard. But our<br />

society still has misgivings about water source pollution and distribution safety<br />

guarantee. Coupled with changes <strong>of</strong> living habits and market operation, there exist<br />

multifold approaches <strong>of</strong> drinking water supply in recent years. The trend <strong>of</strong> urban<br />

water supply system is also a much-discussed subject among the academic<br />

community <strong>of</strong> water supply. People‘s opinions differ and it is hard to find a common<br />

conclusion.<br />

Purified water in communities, special drinking water line in urban areas, family<br />

purger equipment and barrel water are all different forms <strong>of</strong> water supply based on<br />

water quality difference, which altogether have occupied a large amount <strong>of</strong> the<br />

market volume in the urban drinking water industry. Although there are criticism <strong>of</strong><br />

and questioning about their sanitation, they have been accepted by some circles <strong>of</strong><br />

people. Central water supply should <strong>of</strong> course become the mainstream, but the<br />

change and orientation <strong>of</strong> graded water supply based on quality will be closely<br />

related to water pollution control and drinking water safety guarantee in China.<br />

Various mineral water, energy water, electrolyte enhanced water, π-Water, etc.<br />

compete against each other with much publicity and advertisement. Their common<br />

objective, however, is to pursue and promote some kind <strong>of</strong> ―healthy water‖ most<br />

suitable for people. They should be uniformly classified into healthy beverage, fit for<br />

some people with special needs. After all, there are many channels through which<br />

people can get different nutrient substances. A great deal <strong>of</strong> daily intake should<br />

come from safe drinking water, which cannot be replaced by any health care<br />

beverage. Enhancing and guaranteeing the water quality safety <strong>of</strong> urban water<br />

supply system is still the fundamental need <strong>of</strong> most urban dwellers.<br />
