<strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>, Beijing, Oct 19th, 2004: The 10th Sino-American Symposium on<br />

Philosophy and Religious Studies was held in the Philosophy Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>Peking</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong> today. It is the tenth anniversary <strong>of</strong> the symposium with attendance <strong>of</strong> ten<br />

American philosophers and twelve Chinese counterparts. The main topic <strong>of</strong> this<br />

symposium is ―Religious Epistemology‖.<br />

In the opening ceremony, Pr<strong>of</strong>. Zhao Dunhua, the dean <strong>of</strong> the Philosophy<br />

Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>, looked back the ten years‘ course <strong>of</strong> the<br />

symposium and gave some sincere remarks. American representative Alvin<br />

Plantinga, who is the leading Christian philosopher <strong>of</strong> contemporary time, delivered a<br />

lecture named ―Evolution and Design‖ and caused hot responses from the present<br />

scholars. Kelly Clark from Calvin College gave a lecture about his reflections on<br />

Zhangzi and Plantinga, which is a dialogue between Chinese and western<br />
