Sino-Korea Seminar on Government

Peking University, Beijing, Nov. 28th, 2005: Sino-Korea seminar on the government
management was held at Yingjie Communication Center, Peking University, on Nov.
25th, with 22 scholars from School of Government of PKU, China, and Social
Science Center of Tanguo University, Korea. They had a profound and panoramic
discussion on such topics as the government and the development of economy, the
comparison of Sino-Korea government management models, and public policies of
the two countries, etc.
Prof. Wu Zhipan, vice president of Peking University, introduced the constitution of
the faculties and the students at PKU and the accomplishment of School of
Government in the recent years to the Korean scholars. He said the two universities
should and would deepen the understanding and achieve more in academic area
through academic cooperation and communication.
Prof. Jiang Taixun, the director of Social Science Research Center of Tanguo
University, admitted that Chinese and Korean peoples had a strong psychological
identification in between. Having established the diplomatic relations, the two
countries have an increasingly close communication in the fields of politics, economy
and trade, etc. He also pointed out that China, as the pilot in the development of
Asia, had contributed a lot to Asia, especially to the stabilization and development of
the Korean Peninsula, as a result, understanding China is the most important task to
understand themselves for the Korean people. He expressed his sincere hope that
the two countries should further their cooperation and communication so as to gain
more.
This seminar is the second international one co-hosted by the two universities
according to the Cooperation Memo signed in 2004 between PKU School of
Government and Social Science Research Center of Tanguo University. The first
one was held in Korea at the end of 2004. The memo suggests that the two sides
have more cooperation on research and teaching. Apart from the international
seminars, the cooperation program also includes the plan that PKU School of
Government will send a professor to teach at the Korean counterpart every
semester, while Tanguo University correspondingly send two to four undergraduates
