Peking University, Beijing, Mar. 22nd, 2007: Prof. Stephen A.Privett and Prof.
Stanley Nel, the president and vice president of University of San Francisco paid a
visit to PKU on Monday afternoon. Mr. Xu Zhihong, president of PKU met with the
guests at the Bashford Hall in the company of Prof. Liu Shusen, vice principal of the
School of Foreign Language and Xia Hongwei, executive deputy director of Office of
International Relationship. President Xu first introduced the history and development
of Peking University, then held discussions on the topics of higher education and
environment protection with the guests
University of San Francisco ranks around 100 in the Universities of the United
States. It is one of the three Universities of U.S. that had been visited by former
Chinese leader Mr. Jiang Zemin (the other two are Harvard University and University
of Pennsylvania).
USF has paid much attention on the development of China in recent years, and
cooperation in various forms has been carried out between the two Universities. A
successful example is an international academic seminar held last semester by
School of Foreign Language, Institute of comparative study of PKU and the institute
of Matteo Ricci of USF.
