In the afternoon <strong>of</strong> 2nd, July, Ms Massoumeh Ebtekar, Vice president <strong>of</strong> Iran and<br />

president <strong>of</strong> Environmental organization, visited <strong>PKU</strong>, having a discussion meeting<br />

with some teachers and students from College <strong>of</strong> Environmental Science <strong>of</strong> <strong>PKU</strong><br />

about environment protection.<br />

Ms Massoumeh Ebtekar said that both China and Iran are developing countries. With<br />

the development <strong>of</strong> economy, environment problem attracts more and more concern.<br />

It‘s not necessary and probable for us to follow the western way <strong>of</strong> polluting first and<br />

governing after. It‘s better for us to strengthen scientific research and deal with the<br />

balance <strong>of</strong> economy development and enviroment protection in a scientific way<br />

according to the western experience. She hoped that scientific research could<br />

provide accurate information and reliable data for our decisions.<br />

Jiang Jiasi, dean <strong>of</strong> COES, introduced some researching projects that teachers and<br />

students <strong>of</strong> COES took part in to Iranian guests, such as water quality protection and<br />

environmental education etc.<br />
