nature, man and biosphere.
Nowadays, environment and resources have become global concerns. The
boundary of country has in many aspects been ―broken‖. ―Declaration of Heritage‖
can be an effective way of marketing one‘s national culture to the outside. Once it
succeeds, it will contribute to heritage protection. What‘s more, the possession of
such ―intangible asset‖ will greatly drive local tourism and economy.
Secondly, we should make full use of international channel when protecting our own
heritage. Actually, there are different kinds of heritage internationally. Apart from the
well-known natural and cultural heritage defined by UNESCO, world-class heritage
also include World Biosphere Reserve, Wetlands of International Importance, Global
Geological Park, Globally-important Agricultural Heritage and World Monuments,
etc. After all, only a few heritage can be included in World Natural and Cultural
Heritage List. Due to various factors such as the balance between countries and
regions, the limitation of quantity and the standards for evaluation, etc., some
heritage are still not embodied in world heritage list. Hence we should treasure our
heritage and develop and protect it in accordance with China‘s current situation and
characteristics.
Li Wenhua said, ―I propose that we try our best to declare world heritage and share
our wealth with the world, so that more and more valuable treasure can be
acknowledged and protected by the international community. This is indeed our
honor. But we should not take it for granted that only those approved by foreigners
are valuable. Chinese treasure can only be well accepted and incorporated into the
world network after its own study and recognition. Therefore, China should first build
up its own network of heritage exploration and protection, in order to make
contributions to the world. ‖
