China CDPF Chairman presents for the
end of Paralympic Games table tennis
tournament

Peking University, Sept. 23, 2008: The last four Paralympic Games table tennis
championships were held at Peking University Gymnasium (PKG) on September 16.
Chinese team achieved a good ending for the competition, as won 3 gold medals, in
Class 4-5, Class 6-8 of the Women's Group and Class 9-10 of the Men's Group, and
1 silver medal in the Class 4-5 of the Men's Group.
Deng Pufang, Executive Chairman of the Beijing Paralympics Organizing
Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative
Conference (CPPCC), President of China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), as
well as distinguished alumni of PKU, accompanied by Wu Zhipan, Executive Vice
President of PKU, came to the stadium to watch games. Deng awarded gold medals
as a guest of the Class 4-5 of women's group awards ceremony, one by one for Ren
Guixiang, Gu Gai, Zhang Bian and Zhou Ying in the Chinese team, silver medals for
the German team and bronze for the Jordan team. It is said that this is the first time
for Deng to attend the award ceremony.
In all, Chinese Paralympic table tennis team had won 13 gold medals, even 6 more
than the number they got in the Athens Paralympic Games, in Bejing Paralympic
games. These glorious achievements were due to the hard efforts done by the
Chinese Paralympic table tennis team, as well as the organization and enthusiastic
service from the running team of PKG. There were 140 staff, 870 volunteers and
thousands of security personnel and contractor personnel worked together for the
athletes, technical officials and media reporters with thoughtful match service
organizations, and guests and the audience with a warm view service. Their
excellent performance got a good ending not only for the 13th Paralympic Games
table tennis competition, but also for the commitment of table tennis competition of
both Olympic and Paralympic Games at PKG.
