<strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>, Beijing, March 8th, 2005: Some thirty scholars and students <strong>of</strong><br />

economics and public policy at <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong> presented Public Forum<br />

International <strong>PKU</strong> as Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Rolf Hasse lectured on Social Market Economy at<br />

Yingjie Exchange Center last Evening.<br />

In the lecture, Pr<strong>of</strong>. Hasse shared his thoughts on Social Market Economy Theories<br />

and their practice in Germany. The theories include classic liberalist ideas, social<br />

welfare policies and state role analysis in the background <strong>of</strong> market-based economy,<br />

said Pr<strong>of</strong>. Hasse. He named Germany as an example to analyze the advantages and<br />

limitations <strong>of</strong> Social Market Economy Theories, arguing that the German Model has<br />

to make some adjustment <strong>of</strong> its welfare policies to tackle the current problems.<br />

At the end <strong>of</strong> the lecture, Pr<strong>of</strong>. Hasse answered some questions from the audience.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>. Fu Jun, vice-dean <strong>of</strong> School <strong>of</strong> Government <strong>PKU</strong>, presided over the lecture.<br />
