Peking University, Beijing, Feburary 22, 2005: After the successful conduction of the
first ―PKU-Harvard communication camp‖, the Student International Communication
Association (SICA) will conduct a students delegation to pay a 9-day visit back to
Harvard University from Feb.19 to 27.
This activity is the first time hosted by the student association in China, in the form of
mutual visits. Leaders of the Peking University had attached great importance to it
and had given forceful support. This delegation consists of 16 students from Law
School, Guanghua School of Management, the School of International Relations,
School of Chemistry, School of Communication, School of Government
Management, School of Information and Technology and the School of Foreign
Languages. The members of the delegation were chosen after SICA‘s three-round
tests from more than one hundred applicants. The delegation will give reports and
speeches with regards to the topics concerned by both parts, hold dialogues with
Harvard professors and students during the communication period.
The Harvard University attaches great importance to this activity. Its director of
International Project Office Jane Edward will address at the opening ceremony, and
the president of the School of Art and Science William Kirby will also see the
delegation. Professor Laurel Ulrich,Michael McElroy,Richard Cooper as well as
Jefferey Frankel will discuss with the delegation concerning the American history, the
urbanization of China and its influence on its environment as well as China‘s
monetary policy. Meanwhile, the delegation has also prepared 6 speeches for the
Harvard students, involving China‘s educational system, legal system, the
development of the city of Beijing and the student life of Peking University. Other
activities include visit of the Fogg Art Museum and the Boston Federal Repertory
Bureau, the magazine of Boston Globe. They will also hold talks with editors of the
Harvard University newspaper, and go sight-seeing in Boston. The members of the
delegation will join the ball, watch the hockey match, and enjoy a concert to know
comprehensively the life of the Harvard students.
