Peking University Beijing, Dec. 9th, 2005: The famous cook and master of
ceremonies, Zhen Wenda gave the lecture ‗There are no national boundaries of
food.‘ at 7p.m. Dec. 9th 2005 at the South Hall of Peking University Library.
Zhen Wenda is a famous Chinese cook and master of ceremonies in North America,
as famous as Jackie Chan there. His TV program named ‗Yan Can Cook‘ is very
popular in the United States. He had started the first cooking school of Chinese food
in Canadian. 26 books about food and the culture behind food, written by him, had
been published. He had once been interviewed by the ex-President of the United
States William Jefferson Clinton.
Mr. Zhen talked about his experience during his career life, and gave the youth many
advices. As he is very humorous, it came to the climax many times. He reminded the
youth many times that one should never say he is the best, but should work hard to
be the best. Mr. Zhen gave presents, the knives, to two of the audience who always
cooked for their parents at home, and donated 10 of his famous books to the Peking
University Library after the talk. Then, he cooked salad for the audience, showing the
artifice of using a knife. After the cooking show, it was opened to a question time.
Many audience asked questions about cooking, about the success of Mr. Zhen and
so on. In the end, Mr. Zhen awoke the youth to open themselves to the world and to
everyone else around them.
Many audience did not want to leave, and took pictures with Mr. Zhen.
A new TV program named ‗The cooking art of Zhen‘ will be on show all around the
world in February 2006, played by Zhen Wenda. There will be more than 20
television stations broadcasting it in China then.
