As to what breakthroughs could be made in agricultural talks, Moore thought that the
EU and US have brought up a move for making the biggest cut in agricultural subsidy
in history. But the EU move was unsatisfactory, and Japan had kept silent on that
matter. Now with the inclusion of the Republic of Korea and Baltic countries, it was
really hard to come to an agreement. Moore said that the import tariffs cut for
agricultural products are important to both African and Latin American countries
alike.
In such resourceful and intelligent reflections, we can see Moore‘s grasp of the gist
of free trade. And this grasp is full of his confidence and passion toward free trade.
On various occasions in the world, whenever it is fit, Moore expresses his faith and
confidence in free trade. In his eyes, free trade is the most important tool to save the
world, which is becoming increasingly unbalanced. It can eliminate poverty and bring
about peace and prosperity. He thus believes that many disasters in the world can
only be solved through free trade. He also believes that the realization of a happy life
in the world depends on free trade.
This October, Moore will come to Beijing again, to participate in the panel session on
―Partners in Trade – The WTO, National Governments, and Private Businesses‖ at
the Beijing Forum. He will come with the same faith in free trade and contribute his
share to A World without Walls.
