Russian President Speaks at <strong>PKU</strong><br />

<strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>. May 27, 2008: On the afternoon <strong>of</strong> May 24, the Russian President<br />

Dmitry Medvedev, accompanied by his delegation, visited and gave a speech at<br />

<strong>PKU</strong>.<br />

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev Delivered a Speech at <strong>PKU</strong><br />

<strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong> President Xu Zhihong welcomed President Medvedev on the<br />

behalf <strong>of</strong> students and faculties <strong>of</strong> <strong>PKU</strong>, speaking highly <strong>of</strong> the Sino-Russian<br />

relationship in recent years, especially the cooperation between <strong>PKU</strong> and the<br />

institutions <strong>of</strong> higher education in Russia. He also thanked Russia for being one <strong>of</strong><br />

the first countries to aid China in the quake relief efforts.<br />

President Medvedev began his speech by extending his condolence to victims <strong>of</strong><br />

May 12 earthquake, and congratulations to <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong> on its 110th<br />

anniversary. He also spoke highly <strong>of</strong> the establishment and development <strong>of</strong> the<br />

strategic partnership <strong>of</strong> coordination and vowed to make further efforts to push<br />

forward this partnership.<br />
