PKU Student He Gang Joining the UN
Climate-change Frame Pact Signer

Peking University, Beijing, Nov. 28th, 2005: The 11th signer convention of
―UN Climate-change Frame Pact‖ will be held in Montreal, Canada during Nov. 28th
to Dec. 9th and two young people from China will join the conference‘s parallel event
–youth forum. They are He Gang from environmental school, Peking University and
Wang Tiantian from Guangdong Foreign language and trade University.
He Gang is currently a 3rd-year postgraduate student and both his major and
research are closely related to the global climate changes. He joins the convention
as a specially-arranged journalist of the instruction center of environment protection
bureau. Both He Gang and Wang Tiantian will take part in the discussions and share
their experience together with more than 90 youths from over 40 countries and
regions in the forum. He Gang is also the only youth delegate of China
to join the signer conference.
Dr Klaus Toepfer, the UN under secretary-general who paid a visit to Beijing at
present, pointed out in his speech given at Peking University: ―The youth
in our globe should cooperate at a global level‖, in that way ―We can fight
for the climate changes and for the future‖. Mr. Jia Feng, assistant dean of
instruction center of China environment protection bureau also said that: ―The youth
are the main focus of our environment instruction all along. Greenism
should begin from our hearts and the change of the hearts of youths will
bring out a favorable turn to our environment.‖
The signers in the convention will negotiate the long-run strategy to react to
the global climate changes after the year 2012. The Chinese delegation will be
composed of experts from National Development and Reform Commission, the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China Meteorological Administration, the Ministry of
Commerce and other related committees.
