With participation of 19 scholars worldwide within the field of art history and art theory, on Aug
24th the Beijing Forum opened the sub-group discussion focusing on art, endeavoring to
Multiple art forms ranging from electronic music to Chinese traditional ―Qing‖ performance, the
discussion in the following morning brought the entire session to a unprecedented climax.
Professor Stephen Chatman from British Columbia University of Canada, brought with him
several pieces of varied musical works to illustrate his idea about a multicultural background of
Canadian music. Professor Wu Zhao from China Academy of Arts, hailed for attention from
both academic forum and public about the concern of inheriting and preserving Chinese
traditional ―Qing‖. Music brought life the session.
During discussion, Professor John Lent from Temple University raised his point as providing
young generation access to the beauty of intangible heritage as an effective way to create a
positive preserving attitudes among them.
The second session in the same morning was peaked by speech brought by Professor William
St. Clair from Cambridge University with his enlightened thoughts in illustrating the idolization
of Parthenon in relation to imperialism. Later during the discussion, his pointed out that some
self-presuming liberal activity as stolen artistic items from oriental countries early last century
was actually false nationalism. Such point won supports among the entire sub-group.
