Communication Camp

Peking University, Beijing, Mar.28th, 2004: The two world famous universities
started the first ―Peking University-Harvard University Communication Camp‖ on
March 26th, which is a communicational activity in the form of exchanging visiting
delegations between PKU and Harvard and is hosted by student associations for the
first time.
―Peking University-Harvard University Communication Camp‖ is a part of the
―Harvard Asian Program‖, which is focused on academic and cultural
communications between Harvard and the first-rank universities in Asia, and to make
more interactions and cooperation with these universities. By establishing this stable
communication and mutual visiting relationship among students, Harvard offers the
opportunities for students to experience the charm of Asia by themselves and to
cultivate students‘ worldviews by building this stage on which merges eastern and
western cultures.
This activity is hosted by SICA (Students' International Communication Association)
of Peking University, and the goal of which is to research the differences of the
culture and social morphology between China and the USA and to encourage youth
to shoulder the common social responsibilities of the world.
The leader of the delegation from Harvard is Professor Richard N. Cooper, who is a
famous professor on international economics from School of Economics of Harvard.
The chess team of Harvard is also coming with the delegation, and there will be a
chess contest between Harvard and PKU chess team, the latter of which owns the
world champion Xu Yuhua. There will also be some academic seminars and
speeches in the calendar of the activity.
