<strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>, Beijing, Aug 31st, 2004: The Forum for American/Chinese<br />

Exchange at Stanford (FACES) composed with public panels including current<br />

political and economical issues raised its curtain this morning in the Yingjie<br />

Exchanging Hall <strong>of</strong> <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>, presented by the Forum for American/Chinese<br />

Exchange at Stanford (FACES) in cooperation with the Students‘ International<br />

Communication Association (SICA) at <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>:<br />

Sub-Forum topics ranges from politics to economy development, including<br />

Challenges to China‘s Economic Future: Overheating, Privatization, Bank Reform,<br />

Consumerism & American Brands in China and Cross-Strait Relations: A View from<br />

Beijing.<br />

Participants are leading scholars in the discussing area and leading figures in<br />

practical arena, including President, IMC Asia; former Vice President,<br />

Citibank-China, Frank Hawke; Director, China Center for Economic Research,<br />

<strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>, Justin YiFu Lin and Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer,<br />

JP Morgan-China, Carl Walter.<br />

The Forum for American/Chinese Exchange at Stanford (FACES) is a group <strong>of</strong><br />

students, faculty, and community leaders, whose mission is to improve the future <strong>of</strong><br />

U.S.-China relations through education and grassroots diplomacy among young<br />

American and Chinese leaders.<br />

Antecedent to this forum SICA once held another international students‘ conference<br />

between <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong> students with Harvard <strong>University</strong> students, discussing<br />

cultural shocks and fusions between China and the U.S.A.<br />

The discussions <strong>of</strong> the forum are expected to last for another 2 days.<br />
