History: What is Kept and Lost under Multicultural Assimilation<br />

History still remains as one <strong>of</strong> the traditional topics <strong>of</strong> academic forums yet it is<br />

always echoing current trend, for it reminds one about the essence <strong>of</strong> time through<br />

changing social condition. Under the sub-topic <strong>of</strong> the kepts and lost under<br />

multicultural assimilation and among 24 scholars, the Beijing forum opens its<br />

sub-group <strong>of</strong> history with varying topics including international relations, literature<br />

and religion in relation to history.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Jiu Qiu from Old Dominion <strong>University</strong> stated his point over cooparative<br />

history and challenges to national history in a global age while Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Wang<br />

Gungwu from National <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Singapore, argued about history and the<br />

constraints <strong>of</strong> the nation-state. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Guo Shaotang take a specific study over<br />

China‘s cultural industry development and described China‘s cultural industry as an<br />

attempt <strong>of</strong> joining the ―cultural family <strong>of</strong> nations‖ while possessing its own unique set<br />

<strong>of</strong> local characteristics. Their discussion prove that history is far more than dead data<br />

<strong>of</strong> record but rather an ever green topic necessary to a always rational nation<br />
