Dr. Liu Xiaoguang Named "Model for
National Earthquake Relief"

Peking University, Oct. 13, 2008: It was published in the China Education Daily
(October 10, 2008 issue) that Liu Xiaoguang, vice president and director physician of
the Third Hospital of Peking University, was named " Model for National Earthquake
Relief " (in the education system) .
Liu Xiaoguang received his medical degree from the Beijing Medical University, now
the PKU Medical Department, in 1991, and received his doctorate in 2000. He had
attended lectures organized by the International Spinal Foundation in Malaysia in
March 2000, and went to France to attend seminars regarding European spinal
surgeries in November 2001. He went on to study in Germany Scharwin Spine
Surgery Center in April 2006 and then in the Cheung Kong Commercial College,
where he received a degree in the Executive Development Programs (EDP).
Dr. Liu has received support from the National Natural Science Foundation, Ministry
of Science and Technology Foundation, "985" Spinal Research Foundation of PKU
for many of his research projects. He also participated in the projects of the Medicine
Development Foundations of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and
also the Capital Medical Developing Foundation. His thesis also won first prize from
the Orthopedic Institute of the Chinese Medical Association, first prize in
―Outstanding Papers Forum, Peking University‖, and the first prize of the
―Outstanding papers of the Chinese Journal of Orthopedics‖. He edited, wrote and
translated four monographs, including "Spine Surgery", "Orthopedic Surgery ",
"Lumbar Spine Surgery" and "minimally invasive intervention therapeutics".
