Peking University, Sept. 30, 2008: On Sept. 25, a ceremony of scholarship donation
by Scotiabank was held at PKU. The scholarship will be provided to students from
the ―GSM-Schulich Double-degree MBA‖ program. The amount of the first donation
is one million Canadian dollars. Wang Siqi, CEO and President of Scotiabank, and
Prof. Zhang Weiying, Dean of PKU Guanghua School of Management, attended the
ceremony.
Mr. Wang Siqi expressed his wish at the ceremony that the scholarship could help
more promising students. Prof. Zhang Weiying also said in his speech that GSM
program.
Early in 2003, GSM and Schulich School of York University has agreed to start an
the MBA students can apply for studying at Schulich School during the second year,
and they will get double MBA degrees from the two universities. The Scotiabank will
provide a scholarship of 20,000 Canadian dollars to two students from that program
each year, and internship opportunities will also be provided to the students.
Since the pilot International MBA project was launched at the school in 2000, GSM
has cooperated with such foreign universities and schools as National University of
Singapore, ESSEC in France, Schulich, McCombs and Seoul National University in
dual-master programs. Graduates from those programs can not only well employ two
languages, but also obtain an international broad of view.
Apart from the International MBA project, GSM has done many other works to
improve the school‘s internationalization level. On one hand, it has built a strong
teaching faculty team with more than 50 teachers who have got their PhDs from
foreign universities. On the other hand, it has created many programs for students to
