Can you imagine a society with law? Certainly not.
Law has become the fundamental and one of the most important factors to
guarantee our society inhabitable, stable, and possible to be cooperative and
prosperous. The Law Panel of the 2-day ―Beijing Forum‖ is extraordinary popular,
attracting world-top scholars in this field as well as people who showed great interest
in this field.
―Constitution‖, the basic of any law and regulation, drew great attention from the
participants. Professor Wang Liming from Renmin University started the discussion
on constitutionalism and constitutional issues, saying constitution in China should
put more emphasis on protecting private property. Professor Zhang Qianfan, from
Peking University talked more about the conflicts between constitutional culture and
confusions in east Asia, especially China. Other scholars‘ suggest constitution
should be more practical and applicable while China is transferring into a civil
society.
The Panel not only covers some practical issues such as labor law, WTO rules,
corruption, but also gives serious discussion on theoretical development of the
civilization of law in a historical perspective.
Professor Ronald Brown from the Hawaii University, who was the chairman of the
second session, said, ―The forum brought out many interest topics.‖
