To make food security a reality the current very sizeable losses experienced in the<br />

post harvest marketing systems of these crops must be addressed through appropriate<br />

food preservation <strong>and</strong> post harvest h<strong>and</strong>ling technologies in order to reduce the losses<br />

significantly. What I have tried to do in this presentation therefore, is to highlight some<br />

of our contributions to the loss reduction efforts. It is my hope that these efforts will<br />

contribute to the global drive to make the world food supply more secure.<br />
