included an internationalization checker (to help developers/authors
find information about HTML pages and spot issues; see http://validator.w3.org/i18nchecker),
and information development of a test framework
that allows the public to participate in reporting issues for browser
support of internationalization features (based on the W3C internationalization
test suite; see http://w3c-test.org/framework).
The network on several occasions cross-fertilized the Network of the
Multilingual Europe Technology Alliance (META-NET), a Network of
Excellence that is dedicated to building the technological foundations
of a multilingual European information society (see for example http://
www.meta-net.eu/events/meta-forum-2012/report). The same holds
for the Multilingual Semantic Web event in Dagstuhl (see http://www.
dagstuhl.de/en/program/calendar/semhp/?semnr=12362) which originated
from the EU project Monnet on Multilingual Ontologies for Networked
Knowledge (see http://www.monnet-project.eu). The event was
positioned at the intersection of natural language processing, machine
translation, multilingual information and knowledge access and intensified
the contact between various communities.
