With the joint efforts of all the aforementioned partners and their networking
potential, TermNet has been able to translate, localize and
adapt the skill card, the online materials and examination platform into
3 European languages (English, German and French), create an online
e-learning/blended learning environment to support traditional trainings
and start promoting the ECQA Certified Terminology Manager –
Basic in foreign countries, such as China and South Africa.

4. Examination
The exam is taken electronically, using a random selection from a central
pool of multiple choice questions with a total of 487 questions. Participants
have 6 hours to complete approx. 190 questions. The examinee
can check the results online, just after the exam. To become an ECQA
Certified Terminology Manager – Basic, participants have to pass with
at least 66%. After that, they will receive a summary certificate in paper
form with their results.
Future developments and cooperation
The response of the international community to this new training and
certification initiative has been enormous. It also reflects the lack of
training in some of the fields included in the programme, as for example
in strategies for business processes, terminology policies, copyright or
product liability.
TermNet is working in a consortium of international terminology experts
and the TermNet members to continue with the development
of the ECQA Certified Terminology Manager platform. The Advanced
training programme and certification skill is being created in collaboration
with all the companies, universities and partner institutions and it
is planned to be launched by July 2013.
