During the interpretation phase, the gaps that have been identified are
compared to typical successful projects in comparable sectors and evaluated
using the relevant benchmark data before potential for improvement
is determined. Potential for improvement can then be represented
immediately as a business case in a separate project.
What results can be expected?
The Global Information Management Self Assessment delivers clear
priorities for action, provides a focus for associated tasks and supplies
qualitative and quantitative objectives for systematic change management.
Since the data is exclusively based on best practices from a range
of industries, the examples provided with the project results can be
used as a benchmark for subsequent activities. In this paper, two current
examples involving clients at large global corporations will be presented.
Both companies were able to optimize their Global Information
Management strategy successfully using the results generated by the
self assessment tool.

This paper can only provide a brief overview of a powerful tool like the
Global Information Management Self Assessment. Anyone who would
like to find out more about the methods and the tool itself is invited to
attend the associated workshop (PKM6; Wednesday October 24, 2012,
11.15 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.). This workshop will provide a more detailed explanation
of the entire concept and will give practical examples of data
collection, evaluation and interpretation.
