Facoltà di Psicologia, Università degli Studi di Bologna (Bologna - IT)
Introduction: The literature has identified the
stressful challenger that parents face following
the birth of a premature infant. Many studies
have assessed the psychological distress of
mothers of preterm babies during infant hospitalisation
or the first years of life, focusing on the
long term effects of prematurity, while there is a
lack in literature concerning the first months
after hospital discharge.
Objective: To describe parenting stress experienced
by mothers and fathers of preterm infants
at 3 months of corrected age, (c.a.), in relation to
the perception of infant temparement, infant
development and main perinatal medical variables.
Method: The sample included 28 premature
infants (gestational age).
