Contributions to periodicals and collaborative works<br />

Robertson wrote many hundreds <strong>of</strong> articles for the periodical press on a wide<br />

variety <strong>of</strong> subjects. His main output may be found in periodicals <strong>of</strong> an outspokenly<br />

rationalist signature, such as the Nat Reformer and the Literary<br />

Guide, but he also contributed to periodicals like the Criterion and the<br />

Yellow Book. For his contributions to Fortnightly Rev and Westminster<br />

Rev see Wellesley 5 1989. Robertson was editor <strong>of</strong> the Nat Reformer from<br />

1891 to 1893, and <strong>of</strong> the Free Rev from 1893 to 1897. He contributed to many<br />

collaborative works, such as H. B. Bonner (ed), Essays towards peace (1913),<br />

and Essays in Liberalism (1922).<br />

Editions and introductions<br />

Robertson edited edns <strong>of</strong> Bacon’s Philosophical works, Buckle’s<br />

Introduction to the history <strong>of</strong> civilization, Shaftesbury’s<br />

Characteristics <strong>of</strong> men, manners, opinions, times etc. He also contributed<br />

introductions to works such as E. J. Trechmann’s translation <strong>of</strong><br />

Montaigne’s Essays.<br />
