<strong>The</strong> principal repositories <strong>of</strong> literary mss, private correspondence and family<br />

papers are the British Library and the Carl H. Pforzheimer Collection <strong>of</strong><br />

Shelley and His Circle New York Public Library; smaller collections are in the<br />

Bodleian, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and the Berg Collection New York Public<br />

Library. Peacock’s <strong>of</strong>ficial correspondence and steam navigation papers in the<br />

India Office Records have not been catalogued. Details <strong>of</strong> individual mss and<br />

letters will appear in IELM vol 4 pt 4 and in the forthcoming Letters, ed N. A.<br />

Joukovsky.<br />

<strong>The</strong> present listing <strong>of</strong> Peacock’s works is the most extensive to date, comprising<br />

all known edns, trns and adaptations as well as all known contributions<br />

to periodicals. All separate reprints and all reviews and other critical articles<br />

on Peacock are listed through 1875. Most reprintings <strong>of</strong> individual poems and<br />

prose selections in periodicals or anthologies are excluded, as are most musical<br />

settings. Edns containing three or more novels are listed under Collections<br />

and selections. Contributions to periodicals does not repeat items that<br />

appear in §1.Posthumously ptd mss are included with Peacock’s correspondence<br />

in Letters and papers.<br />
