<strong>The</strong> Taylors <strong>of</strong> Ongar (so called to distinguish them from the Taylors <strong>of</strong><br />

Norwich) wrote, between 1803 and 1853, more than 70 bks for children, and for<br />

young people. <strong>The</strong>y wrote both collectively and individually, and <strong>of</strong>ten illustrated<br />

their works with engravings <strong>of</strong> their own designs. A full list <strong>of</strong> pbd<br />

drawings and engravings by the Taylor family are in C. D. Stewart, <strong>The</strong><br />

Taylors <strong>of</strong> Ongar (see Bibliographies, below).<br />
