Sport<br />

Since the literature <strong>of</strong> nineteenth-century sport is large, it has not been possible<br />

to make this section comprehensive. Histories <strong>of</strong> particular sporting institutions,<br />

e.g. yacht clubs, books on physical training and wholly statistical<br />

works have, with one or two exceptions, been omitted.<br />
