Remembrance in Time
Advancing this set of proposals, the Commission underlines that some be realized
without delay, others in a medium or long time, being of importance the continuation,
under different forms, within various institutions – pre-university, university, research
mass-media etc. – of the activities initiated through its institution. Only this way, real
results may be obtained in the sanitation of the social, politic and moral climate within
society.
The Commission is convinced that only through assuming the historical truth, we can
really feel free people, we will be stronger, more open towards ourselves and towards the
external world, more united, we will have more trust in our forces and in tomorrow, in
our European future.
The Commission makes an appeal to our good sense and to our collective memory.
We have no right to forget, we have no right to be indifferent. Through assuming the
historical truth, we will never allow anyone to doubt our right to a dignified and free life
in a free, prosperous and democratic society. A civic reconciliation is necessary, but a
civic reconciliation is only possible through assuming the historical truth, hard and bitter
as it may be.
