Professor in Oradea, he introduced for the first time in Transylvania, Comenius's
manuals, Ramus and Amesius. Enyedi Samuel, also taught here, who obtained his license
as "medicinae doctor" in the Netherlands, also Koleseri Samuel, a follower of the English
revolution, then Magyari Benedek, the author of the first anthology of Puritan works. The
printing house from Oradea had also an important role and it was founded in 1640.
Faith and desire to fulfill her mission helped Zsuzsana Lorantffy to resist the loss of two
children whom she had with her husband, from their four children. On 11 October 1648,
Prince George Rakoczy I dies and he is buried next to his great predecessor Gabriel
Bethlen, in the Cathedral of Alba Iulia. But faith strengthens her. ,, Our life filled with so
much bitterness we dedicate to our daily ministry of faith, "confessed one that will
continue to serve the common good, beyond the limits of time thinking and anticipating
future requirements. Further, she helped poor children to learn, encouraged the education
of girls, supported education in the mother tongue, built schools and churches, religious
institutions and equipped hospitals.
Comenius, Apaczi and Szuszana Lorentffy
Comenius (Jan Amos Komensky born in March 28, 1592 at Nivnice, Moravia and died
on 15th of November 1670 in Amsterdam) is considered the "teacher of nations" as one
of the first modern pedagogues. Comenius did his graduate studies in theology at the
Academy of Herborn and Heidelberg University. Comenius developed in his many
works, his ideas on improving the school system. He described the school system in four
stages, all levels of education, education throughout six years and the last unit, the
adolescence school, was named the Academy.
Comenius was a contemporary and colleague of Janos Apáczai Because Both were
professors.
Apaczai (born in 1625, at Apacza in a free peasant family Apaczai) studied at
universities in the Netherlands. He had the opportunity to listen to lectures from all over
the world-renowned professors at universities in Leiden and Utrecht University
Harderwijk, he was a PhD in theology. Susanne Lorantffy intervened on behalf of
Apaczai to appoint him the head of the Protestant College in Cluj
One of the greatest cultural achievements of Szuzana Lorentffy was transforming the
school from Sárospatak into Academy. The Princesse, Suzanne Appel Lorantffy invited
Comenius to participe to the reconstruction of the school of priests from Sárospatak and
to help her provide modern knowledge: "Be our holy help and make our school from
Patak raise and make the right proof of your natural and excellent method already known
worldwide. "
And, indeed, the great teacher worked four years at Sárospatak, contributing greatly to
the prestige of the school, conceiving in this quiet place his most important works. He
wrote here the masterpiece "Janu" and its illustrated version, "Orbis pictus Sensualium".
