For Gheorghe Crutzescu who in his youth had accumulated a lotof data and even relics regarding his native land, the two decades of pilgrimagein Europe, Asia Minor and Northern Africa were occasions to get to knowmany cultures and customs. The harsh years of war generated reactions inhim and at the same time possibilities to understand the perspectives thatforecasted out future. When he decided to elaborate the text he started toevoke episodes of the past, anticipating what was going to come at otherproportions with the consequences hard to imagine by the future readers. Heconsidered that it was his duty as a good Romanian to issue this warning sothat everybody takes the most adequate measures for their own safety andthat of their assets. The text reveals to us the fact that he was a passionatecollector in time of the information and relicts of the past, who put them onpaper in a moment in which the Capital was going through a large processof metamorphosis of the public dowry and not only. He managed to evokeplaces and people meant to serve as Pro memoria to the future generations.By its presentation, the description is attractive. The use of a language thathad already become obsolete at the date of its drawing up, many of the wordshaving lost even for the people contemporaneous with him their primarymeaning, the text must be followed with a Dictionary of Archaic Romanianat hand, with a work that talks about the history of the old institutions anddictionaries of personalities, which are generally rare in Romania and theones referring to Bucharest do not exist. For the new edition of its book Ihad to draw up in 1986 over 1,500 notes that due to reasons dictated bythe censorship of those times, were halved to the ones imposed by ‘comradeMihai Dulea’. After 1900 it was necessary to publish a reparatory edition thatcan include the writer’s biography, the whole text, explanatory notes and anindex which is indispensable when one needs to clear out a certain issue. Aspublished in 2011, the book is trying to offer precisely this function. We areat the same time aware of the fact that there is still a lot to clear out and allreactions are therefore welcome, as they may serve to clear out areas such asterm explanation, present the biography of the evoked persons and last butnot least, to outline the portrait of the author’s personality.Gheorghe Crutzescu married Maria Cavadia on April 27, 1925. We donot have data about the wife’s death or divorce that took place some time.He then remarried 61 on September 12, 1935 Simona Magheru, born onAugust 22, 1905. She was the daughter of Alexandru Magheru and SimonaMagheru, born Germani. On February 4, 1940 his daughter Sanda was bornin Budapest.
